Rolling out large scale assessment in a training environment
AbstractThis paper gives an account of a successful roll-out of a high stakes assessment. Although the target user group size wasn't significant at 10,000 users, the main challenge of the roll out was that it would be managed and delivered by a large number of local administrators who as a group had little or no prior experience of delivering high stakes e-assessment. This paper does not focus on the technology or the features of the assessment engine; it is instead concerned with the key implementation stages. This roll-out has resulted in one of the fastest growing Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) customised awards delivered online and is now available in 25 of the 32 local councils in Scotland where customer service qualifications are on offer.
